Montreal (Saint-Laurent) Quebec H4T 1A3
Place: Corner St. Paul Street and Berri Street in Old Montreal, bordering Faubourg Quebec on the east side and Montreal's Old Port , on the south side.
Project: Transformation of a former industrial manufacturing site into a high quality multimedia complex.
Le 460 Saint-Paul Est was built around 1905 and up to the 1980's kept an industrial vocation. It, in reality, is comprised of three buildings; 444, 450 and 460 Saint-Paul East.
Its first occupants were manufactures of plated products. In the 1930's it was used to manufacture shoes and remained a shoe manufacturer well into the 1980's.
It was then again reborn, but this time with a commercial (office) vocation centred primarily on the multimedia industry. The majority of the building was converted into loft style office space , benefiting from its high ceilings and the beautiful views of the Old Port and St-Lawrence River.
In 2001 the interior lobby and corridors were painstakingly refurbished using the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural style as inspiration.
